BusPatrol provides AI-powered stop-arm cameras and cloud-connected school bus safety technology to school districts across North America, at no upfront cost.
BusPatrol builds AI-powered, cloud-connected enforcement systems that detect vehicles illegally passing stopped school buses. Founded in 2017, the company supplies stop-arm cameras, interior cameras and 360° exterior camera systems as a single platform, delivered to school districts as a violator-funded programme with no upfront cost. It describes itself as the leading provider of school bus stop-arm enforcement in the United States.
The technology draws on artificial intelligence, computer vision and video analytics, combined with cloud-connected hardware that is tested in tough weather conditions and developed in collaboration with law enforcement. Stop-arm cameras mounted on school buses capture vehicles that pass a deployed stop arm; according to the company, 90% of cited drivers never reoffend. The wider platform has been fitted to more than 40,000 buses.
BusPatrol reports partnerships with over 400 communities across North America and says its systems protect more than 2m students. Its work spans school transportation and K-12 school districts, law enforcement, and traffic safety and government agencies. The company was founded in response to the death of five-year-old Adam Ranger, killed while exiting a school bus in 2000, and states a goal of building safer communities for the next generation.
