Bashas' is a family-rooted grocery chain founded in 1932, running 118 supermarkets in Arizona and New Mexico under the Bashas', AJ's Fine Foods, Food City and Bashas' Diné Market banners.
Bashas' is a grocery retail chain founded in 1932 by brothers Ike and Eddie Basha Sr., who opened a single store that has since grown into an enterprise of more than 9,000 employees. Headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, the company operates 118 locations across Arizona and New Mexico and counts itself among Arizona's largest employers.
The business runs several supermarket banners. Bashas' supermarkets form the core, offering quality products at competitive prices with an emphasis on customer service. AJ's Fine Foods serves the premium end of the market, while Food City is the value-oriented banner. Bashas' Diné Market locations serve tribal communities across the Southwest. The company's stated priorities include quality merchandise, competitive pricing, community involvement and serving a diverse customer base.
In December 2021 Bashas' was acquired and is now operated by the Raley family through Raley's Supermarkets. It remains a family-rooted business with more than nine decades of continuous operation in the Southwest.
