Welder Apprentice / Welder Helper

Work Description: 

• Help welder plan and lay out welding sequence 
• Help welder select size and type of material for welding application 
• Position pieces to be welded using measuring instruments and hand tools 
• Help welder perform welding operations on a wide range of metals and alloys and using different techniques 
• Operate saw, shear, forklift, and crane 
• Finish applications using manual and power tools 
• Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• High school diploma / GED required 
• Exposure to / knowledge of MIG, Dual Shield, and TIG welding preferred 
• Knowledge of overhead crane, drill press, and mills 
• Previous experience operating forklift and crane equipment preferred 
• Ability to learn welding, fitting, and other fabrication applications required 

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. up to 2/3 of workday 
• Other physical activity may include standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, and frequent use of hands and fingers
