Strength and Conditioning Coach

WAIS is looking for a dedicated Strength and Conditioning Coach to help athletes build the physical capabilities needed to excel and reach their performance goals within our Kayaking and Cycling programs. This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week), offered on a maximum term contract until December 2028, with potential for extension.

Role Overview:

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, your key responsibilities include:

• Coaching athletes to achieve physical performance standards for Pinnacle Event podium finishes and/or senior team graduation.
• Tracking and monitoring progress against physical training variables, using objective data to inform decisions.
• Leading strength and conditioning planning within assigned programs, ensuring development aligns with the Win Well ethos.
• Supporting the Strength and Conditioning Lead to drive practice standards across the organisation.

About You:

You will thrive in this role if you bring:

• A commitment to upholding Australia’s High Performance WinWell pledge, placing athlete wellbeing at the forefront.
• An undergraduate degree in Exercise, Movement or Sport Science (or related field) plus Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Professional Coach Level 2 accreditation.
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience providing strength and conditioning support in a high performance environment.
• Highly developed expertise in coaching and enhancing strength, power, and speed.
• The ability to design and implement scientifically based, age-appropriate training programs optimising strength, power, and speed development.
• Experience creating and maintaining a high-performance training environment that is challenging and safe.
• Strong capability in applying testing protocols, monitor training progress, and interpret/report data to target audiences.
• Effective collaboration skills within interdisciplinary high performance teams.
• A proven ability to perform under pressure and deliver high‑performance outcomes.
