Role: Software Engineering Manager

 

Location: Bangalore

As an Engineering Manager at Pearson, you will lead a team of engineers focused on developing and enhancing features for our industry-leading digital credentialing platform. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering a collaborative team culture, and delivering high-quality software solutions that support the strategic objectives of the Enterprise business unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and support career development for direct reports.
    • Champion Pearson’s values and essential behaviors within the team.
  • Technical Delivery
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and deployment of Credly features, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
    • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions on schedule.
    • Ensure code quality, security, and maintainability through effective code reviews and best practices.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, testing, and operational practices.
    • Monitor and optimize team performance, resource allocation, and project delivery.
    • Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges proactively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, Sales, and Enterprise leadership.
    • Represent the engineering team in planning sessions, status updates, and strategic discussions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing software engineering teams, ideally in a SaaS or enterprise technology environment.
  • Strong technical background in software development, architecture, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex features and projects on time and within scope.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and modern development practices.
