The Role
As our Senior M365 Engineer focusing on data governance, you’ll champion enterprise data governance and cybersecurity standards across the Microsoft 365 technology stack, helping keep our community secure, compliant, and future-ready.
You’ll partner with teams across the University to advance and embed best-practice data governance, turning standards into practical, scalable ways of working.
Although these standards may be defined by other teams, such as CISO or the risk team, your experience and ideas will help input and shape these standards; thus, you’ll lead the configuration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of RMIT’s Microsoft 365 ecosystem—SharePoint, Purview, OneDrive, Copilot and more. Working across both operations and project delivery within our Level 3 End User Technology team, you’ll make a real impact for staff, students and associates worldwide.

About You
You’re a Senior Engineer with a wealth of experience in M365, who loves untangling complex challenges, leads with deep technical expertise, and takes pride in delivering secure, scalable Microsoft 365 solutions that people rely on every day.
Skills & Experience
- Keep Microsoft 365 compliant with RMIT standards and policies—especially across data governance and cybersecurity—so our platforms remain trusted and secure.
- Collaborate with RMIT Data & Analytics and Cyber Security to shape, evolve and embed standards for data protection and information management.
- Mandatory – Minimum 5 years in a Microsoft 365 technical role in enterprises – with a specific focus on data management across Sharepoint, Purview, OneDrive and Copilot.
- Mandatory – Demonstrable experience in identifying and implementing technical and process improvements across responsible platforms
