Your next career opportunity 
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines within the University's Enterprise Data Lake. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support advanced analytics and machine learning, ensuring seamless data integration and high performance. Your expertise will be pivotal in driving data governance and security, contributing to a transformative data environment. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Architect, built and own production data pipelines supporting University wide analytics and reporting, ensuring reliability, performance and data quality. 

  • Lead technical design for data integration projects, translating business requirements into scalable solutions with full delivery accountability. 

 

  • Mentor and develop data engineering members, establishing coding standards, conducting design reviews, fostering excellence 

 

  • Define and evolve data engineering best practices, evaluating emerging technologies and influencing technical direction.  

 

You may be a great fit if: 

You are an experienced data engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake and dbt, a track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams, and solid experience with AWS technologies, adept at leading pipeline development and optimising data storage and retrieval, while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams. 

You may also: 

  • Have over 5 years of experience in data engineering, particularly with Snowflake and dbt in production environments 

  • Demonstrate deep hands-on experience with Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, data modelling) and dbt (modelling, testing, documentation, CI/CD integration) 

  • Possess strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation. 

  • Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, CDK) and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable 

  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills for optimising data pipeline performance. 

  • Be skilled in communicating complex data engineering concepts to diverse stakeholders.
