We are seeking a proactive and technically strong
Sales Engineer to join our Australian team, based in Tuggerah, to help grow our presence across the region.
About the Role
As a Sales Engineer, you will combine engineering capability with commercial acumen to develop new business opportunities while managing key client accounts. You will play a vital role in expanding ALPINE’s footprint in continuous mining and bulk materials handling through the sale of new equipment and complex customer service orders.
Building strong, long-term customer relationships will be central to your success, alongside identifying opportunities early, supporting bid development, and ensuring seamless communication between clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Opportunity Generation
- Develop new sales opportunities through existing and prospective customer networks.
- Gather market intelligence and monitor industry trends to identify opportunities early.
- Act as the primary liaison between ALPINE and clients, ensuring professional, responsive communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships that support repeat business and customer loyalty.
Account Management
- Identify and manage key ALPINE accounts in collaboration with management.
- Gain deep understanding of client industries, needs, and organisational cultures.
- Develop tailored account plans, including growth strategies and risk considerations.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across the region and within other NEPEAN businesses.
- Prepare progress reports and account analyses for management.
- Set, track, and monitor personal sales targets aligned with company objectives.
- Conduct regular client site visits.
Bidding & Sales Process
- Provide input for go/no-go decisions and contribute to sales strategy development.
- Oversee or guide costing and bid preparation, ensuring clarity and accuracy of assumptions.
- Facilitate technical and commercial clarifications during the bidding process.
- Lead negotiations and post-submission activities to support successful deal closure.
CRM & Reporting
- Record, manage, and track all sales activity within ALPINE’s CRM system.
- Support project managers and bid managers with costing and budget estimates when required.
About You
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical sales within industrial or mining sectors.
- Strong engineering competence with the ability to read and interpret drawings, contracts, and specifications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Highly organised, self-driven, and able to work independently.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft tools and ERP/CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 advantageous).
