Rail Engineer

BG&E is looking for a motivated Rail Engineer to join our growing Melbourne team. This is a pivotal role for an engineer with 3 to 8 years of experience who is ready to take ownership of technical delivery on some of Victoria’s most influential transport projects.

You will work within a highly collaborative environment, applying your technical expertise to develop innovative rail solutions that shape the future of our urban infrastructure.

• Lead the civil and alignment design for heavy rail and/or light rail projects from concept through to detailed design.

• Utilise OpenRail and MicroStation to produce high-quality 3D models and technical drawings.

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (Signaling, Overhead Wiring, and Structures) to ensure seamless project integration.

• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, design calculations, and specifications.

• Provide mentorship to junior drafters and graduate engineers within the team.

• 3–8 years of professional experience in rail engineering, specifically within civil track design or corridor safeguarding.

• Advanced proficiency in OpenRail Designer and MicroStation is essential.

• A solid understanding of Australian rail standards (V/Line, MTM, or ARTC) and Victorian infrastructure requirements.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and eligibility for MIEAust/CPEng.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for technical excellence and digital engineering.
