The City of South Jordan is hiring a full-time Paramedic (Non-Firefighter) to support our Emergency Medical Services division. This position responds to emergency and non-emergency calls, provides high-level medical care, and assists with community health and education programs. Key Responsibilities:
Respond to emergency medical incidents, inter-facility transfers, and community medical calls
Provide basic and advanced life support, including critical care interventions
Transport patients to definitive care in accordance with medical protocols
Operate and maintain ambulances, medical equipment, and supplies
Assist with fire, rescue, and hazmat scene operations as needed
Maintain patient care records and complete required administrative reports
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, vehicles, and facilities
Participate in department and city-wide training programs
Support public education, immunizations, and wellness events
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Utah Class D Driver License
Utah Paramedic License, or National Registry Paramedic with ability to obtain Utah licensure
ACLS and PALS certifications
CPR certification for healthcare providers
Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of emergency medical care, critical care transport, and EMS protocols
Ability to operate specialized medical and transport equipment
Comfortable using EMS software, Microsoft Office, and mobile devices
Strong communication skills and sound decision-making under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-stress situations
Must be able to lift or move up to 181 pounds and meet physical job demands
Work Conditions:
Long shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, and stressful emergencies
May work in extreme weather conditions or on busy roadways
Mandatory overtime may be required
