Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility as a lifeguard is to prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring. Ensure the safety of members by minimizing or eliminating hazards, solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision making skills, and poses the ability to work with diverse populations. Lifeguards must be able to enforce pool policies and communicate why those policies are in place.
Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).Actively guard and scan the pool at all times; refrain from socializing while guarding.Communicate and enforce all COD and pool policies/rules in a personable and professional manner.Attend and participate in regular in-service trainings.Provide a welcoming environment for all swimmers.Maintain a clean and tidy work space.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Must be able to pass a written and practical test on life guarding skills required.
- Life Guarding certificate from Red Cross, Ellis or Starguard required.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid required.
- Must attend in-service training if scheduled required.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.

Working Conditions:
Flexible hours including early mornings, day time, weekend, and night hours.Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion, assist or lift a person in distress of varying weights.Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.This student position does not require pre-employment testing.
Pay Rate: Student Rate 2 - $15.80 per hour
