Position Overview:

Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of guests by overseeing assigned areas. This includes but is not limited to scanning the waters of the wave pool or assisting guests on slides, you will be on the front lines, keeping guests safe. Lifeguards will be working outside in all weather conditions with the expectation that proper guest surveillance is maintained during their shift. This position protects and assists distressed swimmers in times of need, and they also communicate with guests regarding safety issues for all areas and attractions. Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor assigned areas while on stand to ensure guests are safely enjoying attractions in accordance with departmental and Ellis & Associates procedures.
  • Implement the “10/20 Protection Rule” while on stand to ensure the safety of guests.
  • Perform rescues and utilize lifesaving techniques when required and maintain “Rescue Readiness” at all times during shift.
  • Operate rides and attractions within the waterpark in accordance with departmental, manufacturer, and Ellis & Associates procedures, including educating and enforcing rider responsibilities and rules.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and team members. 
  • Follow all delegated tasks assigned by departmental leadership or as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures and Ellis & Associates training. 
  • Operate queue lines at the attraction and manage throughput and efficiency. 
  • Attend a minimum of 4 hours of in-service training each month as required by Texas Public Pool Code and Ellis & Associates.
  • Provide intentional and Texas-friendly customer service and assist guests on and off the attractions.
  • Comply with all Pyek Group and Typhoon Texas policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify operational and equipment issues and collaborate with departmental leadership to resolve them when appropriate.
  • Embody Typhoon Texas’s moment making keys of intentionality, Texas-friendliness, safety, cleanliness, and fun throughout all departments.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities, roles, departments, or park locations as needed.
Requirements

  

  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Lifeguard license through Ellis & Associates (E&A).  This license can be obtained through Typhoon Texas or an independent third party.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older for Special Facilities License (E&A).
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to work in various weather conditions, including direct sunlight, high temperatures, or rain.
  • Must be able to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate in a positive and professional manner and work well with others.
