Lifeguard

WEST Coast Aquatics is seeking to add a key member to our aquatics team. This role is responsible for providing a safe and clean environment for all members of our community. As a customer service position, this candidate must be friendly and polite while being able to enforce facility rules and program policies.


Schedule and Availability

This role offers part time hours. Evening and weekend availability is required. The hours offer a flexible schedule that works well after school or around another role.


Lifeguard Job Description 

Lifeguards maintain safety and enforce all facility rules. While also a customer service position, lifeguards' primary responsibility is the safety of all facility users. When needed this role will preform rescues and administer first aid. This person must be friendly and polite while enforcing rules and program policies. Maintaining an organized and clean environment is essential to safety and this position will include shift specific cleaning duties to be completed. 


Essential All-Shift Duties 

● Maintain swimmer safety at all times.

● Enforce all facility rules.

● Respond to emergencies and administer First-Aid when needed 

● Maximize enjoyment of all facility users by directing customers to lanes, sharing when necessary, assisting anyone that needs help and communicating any safety concerns.


Additional Opening/Closing Shift Duties 

● Cleaning (locker rooms, pool deck, viewing area).

● Trash consolidated and taken out. 

● Turn off lights, heaters and secure all windows and doors. 


Requirements 

● Lifeguard & CPR Certified: This candidate must already be certified. We regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of the class and ongoing recertifications once employed.

● Must be 16 years or older.

● Strong Customer Service Skills: This role will interact with customers, parents, athletes and other staff members. The ideal applicant must be friendly and personable, yet decisive and firm when necessary.

● Organized & Detail Oriented: We work in a fun, fast-paced environment and safety is our top concern. Lifeguards must be able to manage their time appropriately to complete cleaning tasks and maintain swimmer safety during each shift. 


Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Pay: The starting pay rate for this position will reflect the experience and qualifications of the applicant.

  • Paid Training and Professional Development Opportunities: We pay for on the job training and growth opportunities. We will pay for certification renewals once employed. Additionally there are opportunities to grow with the roles at our facility including swim lesson instruction or coaching swimmers.
