Lead Project Engineer

Everything is an adventure for the curious mind

At Aurecon, we turn curiosity into real-world outcomes. Join us and use your expertise to foster innovation, navigate complexity with care, and co-create projects that deliver meaningful, lasting change.

Your role

As a Lead Project Engineer, you'll deliver purposeful work that supports the future of our engineering business. Collaborating with a diverse, multidisciplinary team, you’ll explore integrated solutions, offer thoughtful perspectives, and partner with clients to help them build a more sustainable world.

What you’ll be doing

This role involves delivering a portfolio of capital and brownfield engineering projects across our customer sites. You will:

  • Develop scopes of work, engage with vendors, and oversee project execution.
  • Understand the interfaces and challenges associated with multidiscipline engineering solutions
  • Manage project delivery across the full asset lifecycle including planning, budgets, timelines, forecasting and reporting.
  • Work closely with client project managers and operational stakeholders to deliver site outcomes.
  • Interface with contractors, sub-consultants, and designer teams.
  • Be open to doing things different in an AI developing world
  • Travel periodically to customer sites across Queensland depending on project locations.

What you’ll bring

You are a practical and delivery-focused engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to completion. You are comfortable working in operational environments and collaborating closely with site teams, contractors and technical specialists to deliver safe and effective engineering outcomes. Rather than focusing purely on design, you bring strength in project execution — managing scopes, interfacing with contractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

You:

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Engineering (mechanical, piping, or E&I preferred)
  • Have project delivery exposure including engineering scoping, procurement, and contractor interface.
  • Work effectively with operational stakeholders and site teams.
  • Manage multiple projects with technical inputs including vendors and capital estimating.
  • Take a practical, hands-on approach to project delivery and problem solving.
  • Experience in energy, oil & gas, industrial infrastructure, or heavy asset environments is highly regarded.
  • May have experience guiding other engineers or be looking toward a near-term pathway into people leadership.

How we support your growth

At Aurecon, no two career journeys are the same. We’ll support yours with a collaborative culture, learning experiences, and the flexibility to design your own path. We embrace difference, nurture belonging, and ensure every voice feels valued.

What we offer

  • Development pathways, mentoring, and personalised growth support.
  • Parental leave and cultural leave flexibility.
  • Wellbeing programs for you and your loved ones.
