Authority

Electrical Technicians have the responsibility to: 

  • Accept a variety of task assignments in the electrical area in both the Float and OE Fabrication facilities.
  • Accept production assignments when necessary to meet business needs.
  • Identify, record, maintain logs and communicate any problems relating to the product or process.
  • Abide by all Federal, State, and Local requirements related to generating and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material.
  • Follow all Plant/Companies rules, policies and procedures and contractual agreements. 
  • Conform to expected conduct in a business environment.
  • Follow the Quality, Environmental and Safety policies.
  • Team members have the authority to initiate, recommend or provide solutions to problems through designated channels.
  • Responsible for calibrating and checking instruments.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment and repair on them when necessary.
  • Wire machines and electrical panels in line with prints.
  • Troubleshooting: identify a problem and logical solutions to repair them.
  • Browse blueprints and schematics and use an array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical components

I am responsible for maintaining an effective QS9000 Quality system that is current, used, understood and maintained in my area of the facility according to QS9000 Guidelines and to continually improve the products, processes and services and to ensure customer satisfaction (Quality Policy).

I am responsible for all audits conducted and will ensure all processes meet audit requirements.

Environmental Responsibility

 

I am responsible and accountable, for assuring that my departments are operated in a manner consistent with the Pilkington Environmental Policy.  Specifically, for operating my departments in a manner which; 1) Ensures full compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, 2) Prevents pollution wherever possible, and 3) Encourage activities which lead to continual improvement in Pilkington's environmental performance.

 

 

Essential Functions

  1. Inspecting and testing the operation of electrical components and systems
  2. Installing new industrial electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus
  3. Identifying and repairing electrical problems using a variety of testing devices
  4. Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  5. Carrying out preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime in the facility.
  6. Documenting repairs and maintenance procedures for future reference.
  7. Adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  8. Communicating effectively with management, engineers, and co-workers about maintenance progress and challenges
  9. Preform electrical maintenance as required to maintain the operation.
  10. Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  11. Work on projects as scheduled or required to maintain the operation.
  12. Required to assist in training others.
  13. Participate in all audits:  STOP Audits, GO Audits, internal audit, cross facility, management, and third-party registration audits. (These are not an all-inclusive list but represent common examples).
  14. Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards and responsible for cleaning up of work areas upon completion of tasks.
  15. Ensure work meets required standards.
  16. Participate in required training and successfully complete required assessments or testing to verify understanding and knowledge.
  17. Required to work in a safe, efficient, effective, and reasonable pace.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
  19. Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to work a 12-hour schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, often exceeding 12 hours per day. Candidates must be able to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various working environments. The role will require the use of various PPE* items including but not limited to safety glasses, hi-vis clothing, respiratory, etc.
  20. The position also requires the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift items over 50 pounds. Occasionally exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes. Availability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work. A successful candidate must be physically capable of performing these tasks safely and consistently in a manufacturing setting.
