We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Power Engineering Solutions to join us in our Infrastructure Delivery team in Perth on a full time permanent basis.
Reporting to the General Manager, Infrastructure Engineering, you will play a key role to lead and develop high-performing, engaged teams to deliver reliable, efficient and sustainable power solutions from concept through commissioning and handover to Operations.
You will provide strategic oversight across engineering, grid connections and technical risk management to ensure our solutions meet technical standards, statutory obligations, commercial objectives and customer outcomes across APA’s power portfolio predominantly in the West with the exception of Mt Isa.
Key Responsibilities
Build and lead a high‑performing team operating within a matrix model, responsible for delivering fit for purpose design and power generation solutions across APA’s power portfolio constituting Solar, Wind, BESS and gas firming technologies, delivered through EPC/D&C or a multi-contract approach.
Oversee engineering design, technical specifications, construction contract technical inputs and schedules maintaining compliance with all statutory, regulatory and standards.
Manage grid connection submissions and GPS negotiations across SWIS, NWPS, NWIS and compressor load connections nationwide
Develop and maintain relationships with key OEMs to stay abreast of advancement in new technologies and best practice engineering services.
Drive the appointment, engagement and delivery performance of engineering design consultancies to deliver power engineering and grid connection outcomes
Provide technical input into contract negotiations to optimise commercial outcomes
Your background
Senior power engineering leader with end-to-end generation and grid connection delivery experience
Proven experience engaging with TNSPs and relevant regulators, including GPS negotiation.
Strong understanding of hybrid power system design and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Commercial and contract negotiation capability, particularly related to technical scope, OEM/vendor evaluation and connection risks.
Cross‑functional stakeholder management across development, procurement, operations and project delivery demonstrated people leadership in a technical engineering environment, with a track record of building engaged, high‑performance teams.

The Infrastructure Engineering team forms part of the Infrastructure Delivery division at APA and is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of growth projects across Australia. With a strong pipeline of on‑grid and off‑grid power projects, we are seeking an engineering leader who can operate confidently in a matrix environment and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to meet customer and project outcomes.
Our team brings together specialists in power systems, grid connections, generation technologies and hybrid systems. You will join a highly capable group of engineers committed to delivering reliable, efficient and sustainable power solutions for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Australia’s energy transition by enabling the development and delivery of power generation projects using wind, solar, battery energy storage and thermal technologies.
