Alfabs is seeking a commercially driven Engineering Strategic Growth & Development Manager to lead the front-end growth of our Engineering business.
This is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving pipeline, securing new work, and shaping strategic growth. You will work closely with the General Manager Engineering and Bid Team to identify opportunities, build key client relationships, and convert leads into high-value projects.
This role can be based out of our Parramatta or Kurri Kurri office, offering flexibility across our key locations

What You’ll Be Doing
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across key sectors and regions
- Build and manage a strong project pipeline aligned to strategic growth targets
- Develop and execute business development and market engagement strategies
- Establish and maintain high-value client and stakeholder relationships
- Work closely with the Bids & Proposals team on tender strategy, win plans, and submissions
- Lead early-stage project positioning, client engagement, and opportunity qualification
- Support Go/No-Go decisions and commercial assessments
- Represent Alfabs at client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities
- Provide market intelligence, forecasting, and pipeline reporting to leadership
- Ensure seamless handover of awarded work to delivery teams
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in business development, bid management, or strategic growth.
- Strong industry network and client relationships
- Demonstrated success in winning and delivering high-value projects
- Strong understanding of tendering, procurement, and project delivery models
- Highly developed commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and work across operations, estimating, and leadership teams
- Experience using CRM systems and pipeline reporting too
What You Bring
- 5–10 years’ experience in 3D structural modelling on large-scale steel projects
- Advanced Tekla Structures capability (essential)
- Strong technical drawing and detailing expertise
- Deep understanding of Australian structural steel standards
- Workshop or site-based fabrication experience (highly regarded)
- Trade background (Boilermaking/Engineering) or Engineering degree (Civil/Mechanical) desirable
- Proven ability to manage document control, revisions, RFIs and subcontract detailers
- A sharp eye for constructability and fabrication efficiency
- The ability to communicate confidently with engineers, project managers, clients and site crews
- You understand that drawings aren’t just lines, they drive productivity, safety, cost and schedule.
