Job Requirements:
Education
High School Diploma required
Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
Experience
Medical Assistant experience preferred
Front desk or patient registration experience preferred
BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications:
CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT)
NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)
In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept:
1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
1+ years of phlebotomy experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN)
EMT – Emergency Medical Technician
Paramedic
CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
***Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire***
CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date.
Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
Schedule appointments and process co-pays
Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
Assist providers with patient care and procedures
Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks
Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
All other duties as assigned.
