DescriptionUnder general supervision, responsible for performing skilled mechanic duties in the repair and maintenance conveyances. Responds to equipment trouble reports, determines problem(s) and repairs and restores the elevator/escalator equipment to serviceable status.
Schedule: 7:45am to 4:15pm Monday-Friday. Overtime is required.
Responsibilities- Repairs and maintains elevators, escalators, dumb-waiters and other various lifts in compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Tests equipment to troubleshoot and locate/determine electrical/mechanical issue with brakes, motors, switches, door systems and signal/control systems.
- Disassembles defective units and repairs or replaces parts, such as locks, gears, cables, electric wiring, and faulty safety devices.
- Installs push-button controls and other devices to modernize elevators.
- Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with published schedules, operating procedures and equipment warranties.
- Trains and provides guidance to Elevator Mechanic Associate staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- In-depth mechanical knowledge of elevator maintenance and repair and ability to use hand tools, power tools, test lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, and other testing devices.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow troubleshooting and testing protocols of equipment and comply with all safety/OSHA regulations, state law and building codes.
- Exhibits accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work for quality.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to perform inspections as required by law.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
LICENSES:
- Must possess valid Texas driver's license - clean driving record is required.
- Preferred: Certified Elevator Technician license or equivalent.
