Description

The Electrical Mechanical Technician provides technical support for the engineering and manufacturing departments in the area of control system maintenance and troubleshooting, including such areas as PLC’s, servo’s, motor controls, vision systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, weaving equipment and other related systems. Supports the textile department in areas of control system programming and upgrades.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to learn how to diagnose and correct electrical and electronic malfunctions which are beyond the capabilities of Mechanical Technicians and Setup personnel.
  • Ability to learn how to diagnose and correct PLC and related control system malfunctions as well as install, test, repair, and adjust other electrical equipment related to the operation of our equipment.
  • Repair existing electrical and mechanical components and initiate purchase requisitions for components or supplies as appropriate.
  • Willing to support engineering initiatives for the development of new equipment or upgraded control systems utilizing such technologies as Servos, PLC’s, motor controls, and other related systems.
  • Skill to support production personnel for machine repair and overhaul as needed.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and calibration activity as scheduled.

  • Complies with all local, state, federal and Davlyn safety regulations, policies/procedures.
  • Complies with all local Davlyn quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.
  • Has good communications skills with manufacturing, engineering, and leadership.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field, preferred.
  • Two years technical experience.


EMPLOYMENT TYPE, CLASSIFICATION & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • This is an on-site, full-time, non-exempt position.
  • The standard work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:30 AM until 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
  • Department demands may necessitate additional work outside of the standard work schedule.


POSITION TYPE:

This role is an individual contributor, someone who provides specialized work & expertise and contributes directly to the Organization’s success without managing other people.


TRAVEL:

This position does not travel, but must be able to commute between Davlyn worksites in PA during the workday.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Perform some physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds, independently.
  • Regularly be required to stand, walk, bend and move about the facility, sometimes for several hours consecutively.
  • Must be able to clearly see and differentiate colors.
  • Must be capable of hearing proficiently, with or without the aid of a device. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

  • The facility is not air conditioned and is subject to hot temperatures during the summer months.
  • Many areas of the production floor have a very high noise level. Hearing protection is required in these areas.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Come in contact with fiberglass.
