Do Work That Matters

Leidos Australia delivers IT, mission software, land, sea and airborne solutions that protect and advance the Australian way of life. Our 2,000 local experts—backed by global experience and an extensive partner network—solve some of the world’s toughest cyber and technology challenges across government, intelligence, defence, aviation, border protection and health sectors.

Your New Role and Responsibilities

As a Cyber Solutions Architect, you will lead the design and assurance of secure, resilient and mission-ready architectures across complex, high-assurance environments.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will shape cyber strategy and security architecture across large-scale transformation programs. Working closely with account teams, capture leads, engineering teams and senior customer stakeholders, you will define end-to-end cyber solutions across secure cloud, hybrid infrastructure and deployed environments.

This is more than a security design role. You will:

  • Embed security-by-design principles into enterprise and solution architectures

  • Lead risk reduction activities, cyber architecture strategy across cloud, infrastructure, digital platforms and enterprise observability ecosystems

  • Develop security plans, policies and procedures

  • Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments and security architecture reviews across mission-critical systems

  • Define secure reference architectures, patterns, standards and hardening baselines

  • Integrate security principles across identity, network, workload and data domains.

  • Work with specific security use cases such as addressing security standards, privacy by design and emerging security practices.

  • Guide secure cloud migrations, ensuring cyber hardening and compliance from design through deployment

  • Oversee testing, troubleshooting, cyber hardening and secure debugging of software-intensive systems

  • Partner with CTO, CISO and operational teams to define long-term cyber roadmaps

  • Influence executive stakeholders on cyber risk, resilience and strategic security investments

  • Lead and uplift technical teams across capture, mobilisation and program delivery

  • Act as a trusted cyber-SME in presales, business development, on contract growth and strategic engagements

  • Collaborate with international Leidos teams to leverage and repatriate global cyber capability

You will regularly resolve highly complex cyber and systems challenges requiring deep technical expertise, strategic reasoning and collaborative leadership. Your solutions will not only protect systems—they will enhance mission performance and commercial outcomes.

What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact

  • Ideally 10+ years’ experience in cyber security architecture, engineering or secure systems design

  •  Ability to translate complex security problems for non cyber security speakers.

  • Proven experience delivering cyber transformation across large-scale cloud and hybrid environments

  • Proven ability to lead and advocate in a complex multi-discipline environment where cyber is just one of the constraints being considered

  • Deep expertise in secure solution architecture across:

  • Mission software systems

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP or Oracle)

  • Infrastructure platforms and deployed information environments

  • Knowledge of security frameworks and their application including for the Information Security Manual (ISM), ISO 27001 and NIST 800-53

  • Experience with environment monitoring and observability with security telemetry

  • Understanding of secure SDLC, DevSecOps and systems integration

  • Exposure to both Waterfall and Agile delivery models

  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders on cyber risk and architectural direction

  • Demonstrated leadership across technical teams in capture, R&D and complex program delivery

  • Experience within government, defence, intelligence or regulated environments (highly regarded)

  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience (highly regarded)

  • A strong sense of ownership, accountability and delivery focus

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box. If you meet most of them, we encourage you to apply. We’re most interested in your strengths, growth mindset, leadership capability and ambition.

This role requires Australian Citizenship and an active NV-1 security clearance, with willingness to upgrade to NV-2.
