About the role

Transport Services manages the maintenance and repair of the council’s vehicle fleet/plant/equipment, in accordance with legal regulations, lease company’s and manufactures’ standards and targets. The Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 2) role is to support the Workshop Manager by undertaking the maintenance of the council’s fleet, including third party and plant maintenance processes are carried out effectively to meet the services obligations, in a timely and cost-effective manner.

About you
  • Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent
     
  • Nominated Tester (VOSA accreditation MOT Class 4 to 7 testing) or to be able to gain within 6 months
     
  • Standard Secondary /Comprehensive Education (minimum) at least 'GCSE' level standard including English and Maths or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Experience in transport workshop environment or operating within a team in transport logistics
  • Ability to work split shift 06.30 to 21.30hr Monday to Friday. Provide standby cover on a 1 in 9 week rota including weekends and bank holidays
