Description
Under general supervision, responsible for providing clinical nutrition care & services to patients/clients in response to research protocol and physicians orders to include the following: assessment of Patient's nutritional risks/status, development of care plans to meet nutritional needs of patients, counseling of patients & family members, and education of patients.

Responsibilities
Implements and provides appropriate nutritional care and education within the framework of a comprehensive health program.  
Collaborates with medical staff and a healthcare team in assessing the nutritional needs of the patient population and develops dietary interventions to support patients through treatment and beyond.  
Provides education to patients, caregivers, staff and the community concerning nutritional approaches to disease prevention and survivorship issues.  
Provides advice and consultation regarding the implementation of therapeutic diets prescribed by physicians for individual patients.  
Manages nutrition supplement program, provides input into grant funding applications, reports, participant identification, screening and distribution of products.  
Promotes and develops food demonstrations and nutritional teaching for various age groups and /or chronically ill patients.  
Performs all other duties as assigned.  


Qualifications
Requires knowledge and experience with a wide range of disease entities, treatment modalities and drug/nutrient interactions.  
Experience in providing nutrition care in inpatient and outpatient settings for a wide variety of disease states.  
Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate aspects of the treatment program.  
Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.  
Ability to observe a patient's issues, and analyze what is needed to help them without putting them at further risk.  
Ability to work one-on-one with patients every day and be a good communicator and listener.  
Ability to talk with patients and their families and be able and willing to deliver both good and bad news in the most compassionate way possible 
 
Education:
Bachelors Degree in a Food/ and of Nutritional science is required.
 
Licenses & Certifications:
Certification by the ADA as a registered dietician is required.
