Traveling Paramedic – Occupational Health


Position Summary


The Traveling Paramedic – Occupational Health is responsible for delivering high-quality occupational health services at various client worksites. This role supports on-site injury care, regulatory testing, health surveillance, wellness programming, and emergency response services. The Traveling Paramedic must be adaptable, self-directed, and capable of working independently across multiple locations while maintaining exceptional customer service and clinical standards.

This position requires frequent travel to assigned client sites, including temporary assignments, new site launches, coverage support, and special projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Clinical Services

  • Provide assessment and treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses within scope of practice and company protocols
  • Deliver first aid, emergency care, and triage services
  • Determine need for referral to outside medical providers or emergency services
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing (DOT and Non-DOT)
  • Conduct physical assessments, respirator fit testing, audiometric testing, pulmonary function testing, vision screening, and other regulatory exams
  • Administer vaccinations as permitted by licensure and company policy
  • Support return-to-work evaluations and modified duty processes
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation

Occupational Health & Compliance

  • Ensure services comply with OSHA, DOT, and client-specific requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Assist with injury trend analysis and site reporting as requested
  • Support safety initiatives and collaborate with site leadership

Travel & Site Support

  • Travel to multiple client locations, sometimes with short notice
  • Support new site openings and temporary coverage needs
  • Assist in training or mentoring on-site clinical staff as assigned
  • Adapt to various clinic setups (mobile units, industrial sites, construction environments, warehouses, etc.)
  • Maintain readiness of medical supplies and equipment during travel assignments

Health & Wellness Programming

  • Assist with health screenings and wellness initiatives
  • Lead or support stretch-and-flex programs when required by client
  • Provide education to employees on injury prevention and general health topics


Qualifications


Education & Licensure:

  • Current State Paramedic license in good standing
  • National Registry certification (preferred)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of field paramedic experience preferred
  • Occupational health, industrial, or on-site clinic experience preferred
  • Experience with DOT collections and regulatory testing (preferred)

  • Industrial settings (manufacturing plants, warehouses, construction sites, mining, etc.)
  • Mobile medical units

  • Exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and industrial hazards

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel required (percentage based on company needs, typically 50–90%)
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Flexibility for variable schedules, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends
