About the Role:

Join our team as a Grade 3 Paediatric Physiotherapist on a part-time, ongoing (30.4 hours per fortnight / 0.40 EFT) basis, based at the Monash Children’s Hospital.

 

In this position you will primarily provide outpatient care to children with non-inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions, as well as children with chronic inflammatory conditions.

 

You will be the physiotherapy lead for a newly created Non-inflammatory Physiotherapist Led Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic. Working alongside Paediatric Rheumatology medical staff, you will be responsible for the primary assessment of children referred to this tertiary service. Expert diagnosis, patient and family education will be provided, as well referral to appropriate follow up services either at Monash Children’s Hospital or a community provider.   

 

This role includes the provision of care to children admitted with complex musculoskeletal conditions, delivering expert direct patient care while also providing leadership, support, teaching and training to Grade 1 and 2 physiotherapists, allied health assistants and students. The role will also involve collaborating with community and regional colleagues to support patient flow and facilitate effective discharge services.

 

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Providing expert physiotherapy assessment and management of children in the Non-Inflammatory Physiotherapist Led Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic 
  • Delivering and co-ordinating outpatient physiotherapy services for children referred to the Monash Children’s Allied Health Department with complex musculoskeletal conditions 
  • Referring children from the Non-Inflammatory Physiotherapist Led Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic to appropriate community providers 
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the Non-Inflammatory Physiotherapist Led Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic in conjunction with medical colleagues 
  • Co-ordinating and delivering inpatient services to ward based infants and children admitted with complex musculoskeletal conditions. 
  • Providing specialist clinical knowledge in the fields of the Paediatric Physiotherapy and supporting the Grade 3/4 physiotherapists to lead the clinical service delivery within the Monash Children’s Hospital physiotherapy team  

 

This role may require participation in an after-hours service roster, including weekends, public holidays, and late shifts.

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • A relevant Physiotherapy qualification 
  • Current unconditional AHPRA registration 
  • Significant physiotherapy clinical experience 
  • Experience in the management of complex paediatric musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions, including both inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions, or relevant and transferable experience managing complex adult musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions
  • Leadership and/or service development experience 
  • Experience in teaching, and education 
  • Current Victorian Driver’s licence (or equivalent)
