DescriptionPosition Overview
Butler University seeks a part-time strength and conditioning coach to assist in managing and supervising the daily strength and conditioning operations for multiple sport programs. The part-time coach assists the head coach and assistant coaches in providing skills and support for the vision and strategies of Butler’s programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the coaching and teaching of training programs for 20 teams and 400+ student-athletes; expertise includes strength development, cardiovascular development, team conditioning, speed development, flexibility development, injury prevention, rehabilitation of injured student-athletes, nutrition and supplement education
- Assist the building and maintenance of year-round, periodized training programs for assigned teams; maintain progress records for evaluation of programs
- Help build a positive culture through collaboration with weight room staff, athletic trainers, sport coaches, student-athletes, and other athletic personnel
- Other duties as assigned by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of strength and conditioning experience within the HS, private or professional setting
- Baccalaureate degree required
- NSCA or CSCCA certification required
- Ability to work flexible hours required
- Ability to teach Olympic lifts, sprint techniques, lift 100 pounds and safely spot athletes on squats and presses required
- Knowledge of NCAA Division I and Big East rules and regulations
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff members
- Outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills
- Ability to organize, multi-task, and collaborate at a high level with a diverse group of individuals
- Computer skills in Word and Excel required
Preferred Qualifications
- USWA certification preferred
- 3-5 years of collegiate coaching or playing experience
- Desired candidate will have outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills and be able to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff
