GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Perform responsible, professional, specialized work as it pertains to pool safety, enforcing rules and regulations, and preventing injuries at a County Parks pool facility; to perform maintenance tasks in order to continually administer a safe and healthy environment for the public.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Primarily purpose of the Parks Lifeguard is to provide pool safety and customer service. Public contact is described as greeting public as they enter facility and assisting them with various customer service needs. Work is performed under regular supervision by the Park Operation Manager and progress is checked through review of reports.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands of Work
Work is primarily outside in uncontrolled climates with exposure to natural elements and high temperatures or hazardous conditions depending on where the employee is needed to work. Work is described as standing: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, and data entry at computer terminal.
May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver’s license and that the driving record is compatible with the county’s driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County’s vehicle use policy.
