32The City of Niagara Falls is hiring individuals to work as Lifeguards and Swim Instructors at City pools during the summer months and the indoor pool at the MacBain Aquatic Centre part-time, year-round.
To be eligible to apply for the Lifeguard summer student position, candidates must be at least 16 years of age and provide proof of returning to school full-time in the fall. Lifeguards and Swim Instructors working at the indoor pool do not have to be full-time students.
LIFEGUARDS:
Ensure the overall safety of the public attending aquatic facilities, including the prevention of accidents and the treatment of injuries.
Maintain the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas.
Maintain records and assist with special events.
Qualifications:
Current certification in National Lifeguard Service (pool option) and Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’. (re-certification courses are available to successful candidates through the City of Niagara Falls; employment conditions may apply)
SWIM INSTRUCTORS:
Responsible for developing program and lesson plans for swimming instruction at all levels.
Lead group swim lessons to all ages and ability levels.
Evaluate students' performance, maintain records of performance and attendance as well as liaise with parents and children on instruction progress.
Ensure compliance with safety and pool hygiene procedures and deal with patrons' questions and concerns regarding swimming lessons.
Qualifications:
Current certification in National Lifeguard Service (pool option) and Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’. Current LSS Swim Instructor. LSS Life Saving Instructor is an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Appointment to a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor position is conditional upon the submission of an acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) for all candidates over the age of 18. Successful candidates will be eligible for reimbursement for the cost of the police check after successfully completing the probationary period.
