SummaryThe lifeguard plays a vital role in ensuring our pools are safe for our patrons. Lifeguards observe swimmers, inspect equipment, and assist with the opening and closing of the pool. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays. This is a seasonal position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors pool area during guard rotations while guards are entering and exiting the chair
Enforces all pool rules and regulations
Rescues and provides first aid and/or CPR when appropriate; notifies emergency medical personnel when necessary
Works at front desk operation and delivers great customer service to patrons
Accepts and receives payments
Performs safety inspections and basic maintenance procedures to assure safety
Maintains pool and pool area, checks chemical level in pool, cleans/vacuums pool, picks up trash, cleans decks, and cleans bathroom
Assists with programming of aquatic events
Uses RecTrac for daily attendance and financial operations
Attends in-service training weekly to review lifeguard skills
Arrives to assigned shift on time; adheres to attendance and shift trading policies
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of two years of High School
Pass pre-employment swimming skills test and basic water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment test
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a Lifeguard
Certificates and Licenses Required Prior to Lifeguard Shift
American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aide – training provided by the City
