Attendance Policy
All Safety Policies and Procedures
Appropriate business casual attire for office personnel and proper uniform attire for those departments that are so designated (Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments);
Responds to fire alarms, emergency medical services calls, and water related incidents related to the delivery of services as directed by the department;
Performs fire suppression including rescue, ventilation, salvage and overhaul, and other related tasks associated with suppression activities;
Engages in the delivery of emergency medical services in a pre-hospital environment at a level determined by the department and provides other functions associated with an emergency medical system;
Works in an outdoor environment subject to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and intermittent exposure to other hostile environments, confined spaces and noise intensity;
Maintains intense physical activity over prolonged periods of time including, but not limited to, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, swimming, moving and lifting extremely heavy objects, and deployment of equipment during emergencies;
Inspects, cleans, and maintains apparatus, equipment, quarters, and grounds;
Conducts inspections of businesses, facilities, and related sites to ensure compliance with applicable laws and/or standards;
Engages in hydrant inspection and maintenance;
Participates in and conducts training classes as determined by the department;
Participates in physical fitness training as directed by the department to improve or maintain an effective level of performance;
May be required to assume a position of Driver/Engineer in any capacity as directed by the department;
Performs all other duties, assignments, and tasks as assigned.
Basic Firefighter Certification;
Basic EMT certification;
EMT-Paramedic Certification within twenty-four months;
CPR Instructor;
Hazardous materials D.O.T. certification;
Confined Space/High Angle Rescue at a level determined by the department;
Must successfully obtain certifications within the one-year probationary period;
May be required to travel for training and extended periods;
Must be able to maintain a professional appearance;
All certifications must be maintained as a condition of continued employment;
Must possess and able to maintain a Valid Texas Driver License;
Must be able to obtain a class “B CDL” driver license issued by the State of Texas within the first 12 months of employment. The class “B CDL” driver license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment

Ability of reason abstractly using highly technical and mechanical concepts;
Must have the ability to take effective action in all emergency situations;
Shall exhibit emotional stability and technical expertise in hazardous environments while functioning under extreme stress;
Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in the work place and community;
Shall maintain acceptable physical fitness, endurance, and agility to perform effectively in all facets of work as determined by the department.
