Asst Strength and Conditioning Coach

Working independently and exercising good judgement and discretion. Collaborate with administration, Champion Performance team members, coaches, and staff to serve the needs of the athletics department from an athletic development perspective.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Works as an integrative member of the Champion Performance team to support the Vision of Liberty University Athletics and Mission of Champion Performance.

2. Assists the Head Strength Coach in all aspects of the staff including safety, procedure, protocol, hiring of staff, equipment purchases, staff development, program design, weight room design, staff education, recruitment of interns and volunteers, instruct interns and volunteers.

3. Provide instructional expertise and direction in the areas of speed, strength, and conditioning for assigned athletic programs including pre-season, in-season, and post-season workouts.

4. Maintain communication with administration and/or coaching staff relative to athletic development issues.

5. Work in coordination with nutrition and sports medicine staff to implement appropriate injury prevention and reconditioning programs as needed.

6. Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, and services.

7. Maintain a working knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and institutional rules and regulations.

8. Provide presentation of support to athletes and parents during on-campus recruiting visits for athletic programs.

9. Provide support, oversite, and direction for applied performance initiatives.

10. Other duties: Perform other program duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or the area head.

11. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

12. Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervising graduate assistants, interns and student workers.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field. At least one certification: CSCS, CSCCa or USAW. Must maintain CPR certification all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

2-3 years of related experience at the NCAA Division I or professional level. Master's degree. Pursuit of two certifications: CSCS, CSCCa or USAW.
