The Iowa State University football program is accepting applications for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will assist in strength and conditioning of NCAA Division I football student-athletes and play a vital role in prevention of injuries, promotion of team culture, and increased athletic performance, competitiveness and program success.
Examples of what you’ll do:
Help implement a comprehensive athletic development program that will help ISU student-athletes minimize injury risk, maximize athletic performance, and optimize team success
Teach and demonstrate proper exercise technique, ensuring safety and adapting workouts based on each student-athlete’s needs and health status
Educate and motivate student-athletes
Support coaching staffs by managing testing and performance technology data, preparing performance reports, and translating these data
Regularly and effectively communicate and collaborate with health, performance, and support staff (e.g. Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, Mental Health), along with coaches and administrators
Build trusting relationships with the coaches and student-athletes to develop proactive solutions to their requests/needs
Assist in management, safety, and sanitation of the weight room
Contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience while maintaining an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes
Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
The ideal candidates will have solid technical knowledge related in all areas of strength and conditioning; good organization, analytical, and decision-making skills; and strong teaching, motivational, and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel with the team to away competitions.
Candidates are required to have and maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program in accordance with NCAA requirements.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience coaching strength and conditioning for a collegiate, professional, or elite-level athletics program.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa.
CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience strength coaching for a NCAA DI football program.
Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, sports performance or a related field.
