Job Description Summary
Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football prepares the student-athletes at the University of Maryland for the rigors and demands of intercollegiate competition through the utilization of the total athletic enhancement training. The primary function of this position is to manage the total athletic performance preparation of student athletes to include, but not limited to:
Development of training programs; application of appropriate motivational techniques; instruction of student-athletes in the proper execution of weight training exercises, plyometrics, agility drills, flexibility training, speed improvement technique, and conditioning modalities; and communicating with appropriate coaching personnel regarding the needs and demands of the student-athletes.
Physical Demands: he scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend, and holiday work (non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and various office devices, including telephones, copy machines, and fax machines; frequently moves around the facility and event site before, during, and after events to assist clients; and consistently communicates with others via telephone, email, and in person to exchange accurate information. The position requires standing, walking, kneeling, or crouching, balancing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and university rules and regulations, as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes. Strong communication, organization, and administrative skills.
Preferences: Collegiate or professional sports production experience in a fast-paced environment.
