Giant Ant

Giant Ant is a Vancouver creative studio producing animation, motion design and illustration for brands including Duolingo, Microsoft and HoYoverse.

Giant Ant is a creative studio based in Vancouver, British Columbia, that combines art, design, animation and ideas into visual storytelling for internationally recognised brands. Founded in 2007 by life partners Jay Grandin and Leah Nelson, the studio has grown organically over nearly two decades into a team of 22 full-time artists, producers and operations specialists drawn from around the world.

Its work spans motion design, cel animation, illustration, art direction and design. Projects range from explainer videos and brand anthems to cel-animated segments for major gaming trailers, social media content and standalone illustration commissions. The client list includes Duolingo, Microsoft, OpenTable, HoYoverse, Optimizely and Facebook, reflecting activity across gaming, technology, language learning, hospitality and software.

In 2022 Giant Ant was acquired by Residence, a global creative collective. The studio continues to operate from Vancouver with a globally distributed team and an international client base.
